Our rooms were the best part: beautiful, modern, and brand new. There’s real potential here, and I think it could become a wonderful destination once the resort is finished and running properly. They also acknowledged what happened during our stay and gave us the equivalent value at another of their resorts, which we appreciated and which helped rebuild some trust in the brand. We arrived just two days after opening, so we expected a few hiccups. The resort clearly wasn’t ready for guests, though, and it turned into our worst vacation experience. Plenty of advertised amenities were unfinished or unavailable: the spa was only partly complete, several pools were closed, the sports courts weren’t open, and parts of the golf experience still weren’t operating. In our view, guests shouldn’t pay full price when major amenities aren’t available. At the very least, golf should have been free until it was fully operational, with guests paying only for equipment rentals. Getting dinner was exhausting. Only a few restaurants were open, and reservations were extremely hard to get. We called Guest Services from our room using zero several times, but our requests never made it to the restaurants. We ended up spending more time in the lobby trying to arrange dinner than relaxing by the pool. Communication didn’t help. Paula said she’d get back to us about the reservation problems, but never did, so we had to keep chasing answers. Mia, on the other hand, was outstanding and went out of her way to help us. She was the bright spot of the trip. Construction was visible throughout the resort, including workers in guest areas and on the floors. Everywhere we went, it felt like the property was still being built. I know opening a new resort is hard, and we were ready for some issues. But the unfinished amenities, service problems, and poor follow-through made this stay much more frustrating than enjoyable. I’d wait several months before booking to give them time to finish construction and sort out operations.

There’s so much to see and do here, and the staff are warm and welcoming. It’s great for kids and pets, too. The restaurants were so good. We loved the place.

We’re excited for our July trip. The food at the other Palace properties is the best, so we’re looking forward to it here too. Most of the bad reviews don’t seem to be about this property or its service. One post appears to review the wrong hotel, since this place wasn’t even open when they said they spent 17k. The other complaints seem to be about local government approving the project. That isn’t the property’s fault, so take it up with local officials instead of undermining what reviews are for. And if you’re staying at the hotel, you don’t have to look at it. It won’t change your view of the rest of Punta Cana. 🤣

We spent 17,000 Canadian dollars for a trip to Moon palace the Grand with three adults and two children. The cost is almost 30% higher than it was three years ago, but the worst part this time was the food. For all seven days, the meals were nearly the same and nothing special. We won’t be back. I’m sharing this so others know.

I’ve enjoyed Moon palace in other countries and hope this one has better food choices and entertainment. That was my only downside. I’m going for the experience and a break from my usual routine, not to live there.
