The staff really made this trip special. Service was warm and attentive throughout, and Esther Maldonado deserves a special thank-you. She arranged an incredible private tasting dinner for us and was our personal insider during the trip. Her attention, quick responses, and genuine care made a huge difference. Honestly, the trip wouldn’t have been the same without her. My wife Leslie and I just got back from a fantastic stay at the brand-new W Punta Cana. The resort is stunning, with modern, vibrant design that still feels luxurious, and a spectacular oceanfront setting. Our suite was spacious, had beautiful views, and one of the most comfortable hotel beds we’ve slept in. Before we arrived, we’d seen months of reviews criticizing the food. Almost every meal we had was outstanding, so it seems management heard the feedback and addressed the problems. There were a few noticeable finishing issues in the room, likely because the hotel rushed to open. Paint had splattered throughout the room and bathroom, including the tub, along with a few other small details. None of it ruined our stay. If management fixes those things quickly, this could become one of Punta Cana’s best luxury resorts. We’d absolutely return, and hope the leadership recognizes Esther and the rest of the staff who made our visit memorable. We’re looking forward to seeing how the property develops.
The hotel and rooms are beautiful, and the food was impeccable. The beach is great, though the waves are big and it can be windy. The alcohol was all top-shelf brands, so the drinks were good. It takes 45-50 minutes to drive from the airport. A couple of things could be better. Room service was always slow, taking at least 45 minutes, and it was a little hard to find all the restaurants. At the chill pool with the swim-up bar, the nearest bathroom was a good ten-minute walk away. Shout out to bartender 007, he’s great. The infinity pool, aka “wet deck,” felt more chill than the actual chill pool, which was more of a party and fun pool. We got a few mosquito bites, but not enough to complain about or spoil the trip. The speakeasy wasn’t great on our first night, Wednesday, when it was quiet. By Friday and Saturday it was lively and so much fun. Baby A always had something fun for the crowd to do if you found yourself bored. I’d definitely recommend the resort!
The staff put real effort into making sure you have a good time, and the activities I went to were fun. The atmosphere was great at both the quiet pool and the fun pool. The food was really good too. I’d avoided all-inclusive resorts for over ten years because I didn’t think they were worth it, but this adults-only resort changed my mind. It was worth it, and I can’t wait to go back. It was President’s weekend in the US, so there were too many Americans, but it was fine.
The food was delicious and inventive across all the restaurants. We especially liked dinners at Noodle Bar and lunch at Taman by the beach, where the ceviche and sea food rice were favorites. Coffee lovers should try the outpost cafe, which served delicious barista-made coffee throughout the day. We spent six days at this great resort. It was our first all-inclusive stay, and I was a bit apprehensive, but the W’s first offering didn’t disappoint. The resort is stunning, and the rooms were well appointed, with spacious, thoughtfully designed bathrooms. There were plenty of interesting activities with a nod to local culture, and we were lucky to be there for the Independence Day festivities. Service was top-notch, especially at the bars and restaurants. Shout out to Lucia at Noodle bar for her great service and recommendations, and to Baby A and China, who ran the activities.
For a Marriott property, this was extremely disappointing and very overpriced for the quality of the food and amenities. It’s two stars at best. The location is far from everything, and there’s little to do beyond the pool and beach. The surf current is so bad that swimming feels dangerous. Locals solicit you to pay for activities, and there’s no all-inclusive offering beyond the room, beverages, and food. The food is questionable. We got sick two days out of the five we stayed. Don’t order the chicken or pizza, they weren’t cooked and made us really ill. There are few restaurants, and they make you cover up for poolside dining. Pool drink service is horrible. Room cleaning didn’t restock supplies, and room service takes over an hour. There are no taxis or motorbikes to get around, and the front desk discourages leaving the property. If this hadn’t been a company trip with a promotion company, there would have been nothing to do. Very disappointing for a new Marriott location.
