The hotel cancelled on me at 3:43pm, after the 3pm check-in time. A customer who cancels gets charged for the night as a no-show fee, but apparently there’s no penalty when the hotel cancels. They tried to find alternate accommodation, but we still lost a solid 3-4 hours and had to walk a few blocks with our luggage to the new hotel. The owner, Rosemary, showed no accountability or empathy. We understand things can go wrong, but staff should handle it with empathy and make sure customers feel valued.

The history of this place made for a memorable stay, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The bed was super comfortable, breakfast was amazing, and there was plenty of warm water in the best shower. You can adjust the temperature with the AC and electronic overhead fan. Across the street, a peaceful plaza was full on Saturday night. Close to everything. Can’t say enough about it.

I gave Pierre at the front desk three $20 bills, but he didn’t return them and they kept $10. It’s not much money, but that kind of dishonesty damages the hotel’s reputation. Don’t hand over more than the $50 deposit they ask for at check-in. I hope the owners see this.

I sleep so well here. The beds are wonderful, and the rooms are beautiful and really clean. I visit DR often, and this is my favorite place to stay. You can’t go wrong here.

My first time in Santo Domingo, and staying here was a wonderful way to get interested in the city’s history.
