Embassy Suites by Hilton Santo Domingo

The pool was one of the best I’ve seen at a hotel, with a lovely deck and bar. Service was exquisite, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was much better than I expected. The rooms were large and had all the amenities I’d expect from a Hilton property. It’s quite far from the tourist areas, and walking to the colonial zone took us over an hour. The hotel sits on a busy local four-lane road, with fast food and an Applebee’s nearby. Even with the location, I’d definitely stay again.

The setting was nice, especially with my sister inlaw getting the party going, but the food wasn’t all bad, just not worth it in the end. I told the server the whole hog with rice inside wasn’t good. I know what I’m talking about, since my family cooks up to 200 a year to resell during the holidays. The rice wasn’t fully cooked. This Christmas party was my first and last time.

The complimentary cocktail hour and breakfast were both amazing. Our suite was really clean and comfortable, and the service was excellent. We had an incredible stay and would happily recommend this hotel. If we come back, we wouldn’t choose anywhere else. Thank you!

We didn’t get the kitchenette we expected from the listing. Our room had no cooktop, and when we brought it up, manager Yelfri Santiago was dismissive and rude, saying, “the hotel complies with the chain’s audit.” The rooms were small, outdated, and got little natural light, and the pool was cold. Breakfast was decent, at least. On the night of Dec 31, loud music kept going until 5am despite several calls to security, which badly affected our sleep. The stay was disappointing and poor value, and this didn’t feel like the Hilton experience we’ve had at other locations worldwide.
