The staff were friendly and the location is central, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you’re a light sleeper. We were on the second floor for three nights. One morning, furniture moving woke us at 6 a.m.; another night, a private event brought music and conversation at 2-3 a.m. We could also hear the people next door talking through the connecting door. The hotel and rooms look very new, but that didn’t help us get much sleep.

We spent Christmas through New Year’s here while using the hotel as our base to explore the Dominican Republic. Aviv and Alejandra at reception were especially welcoming and helpful, and became my favorite part of an already pretty amazing stay. The rest of the team were friendly too, from the kitchen to housekeeping. I never got the name of the man who lent my wife an umbrella for her walk to the mall, but thank you!

Santa, who cleans the rooms, was so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. It was lovely to see her friendly face whenever we came out. She left our room spotless. She’s the best!

For the quality, this is one of the city’s best affordable places to stay. It’s centrally located, with restaurants, bars, and shopping malls within walking distance. The staff’s courtesy and professionalism, along with the cleanliness, were beyond what I expected. Santa Ruiz deserves special thanks for keeping my room immaculate and always paying attention to what I needed.

The rooms and lobby were nice, and having a Starbucks next door was handy. We skipped breakfast because it seemed expensive compared with the room price. We also couldn’t make use of the rooftop or lounge during our two-night stay since they closed relatively early, around 10 or 11 p.m. I wish those spaces stayed open all night. My friends at the Hyatt had 24-hour access, and I don’t understand why the Holiday Inn closes earlier. It also makes paying extra for a room floor with direct lounge access feel less worthwhile when the lounge isn’t open for relaxing at the end of the day.
