A basic breakfast runs from 8-10, with coffee and eggs cooked the way you like. This simple hotel is close to the zona colonial, and has hot water and AC. The man at the entrance was friendly.

Everything worked well if you’re traveling without a car. The hostel is inexpensive, with new, clean rooms and facilities, a good included breakfast served on the roof, and friendly, helpful staff. The one drawback is the secure parking: it’s beside the hostel in a demolished building, with steel rods and broken tiles scattered on the ground.

My sister and I had a really enjoyable stay. The rooms are cozy and have what you need, and breakfast is included, which is a nice extra. The staff were the best part, all so kind and helpful. I definitely recommend it.

The staff made our stay, especially receptionist Michael, who was so friendly and took the time to show us the room and explain everything. They also let us store our luggage for a few hours after checkout, which gave us more time to explore santo domingo. The hostal 53 is brand new, in a safe neighborhood next to the zona colonial, about a 10-minute walk away. Our room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom had a rain shower. A clear recommendation, especially for the price.
