Hotel Guarocuya

The house looks beautiful from outside and the location is great, but the inside was filthy and felt unsafe. There was mold across the walls, shower, and toilet. The towels we were given had what looked like poop and urine stains. I asked for clean ones, but they took them away and returned with the exact same stained towels. That happened twice. The front door lock worked, but the door itself could still be pushed open, and the window could be opened from the street, so someone could reach in and take our things. Staff were rude and sarcastic when I raised it, and only tried to apologize once they saw how bad it looked. There’s a lot of potential here, but after the towels and feeling unsafe the whole stay, I’d never come back.

Everything worked well, the room was clean and the bed was good. The location was a nice bonus.

There was mold all over the walls, dust throughout the unclean room, and dirty bed sheets. The paint was chipped and cracking, and there were mosquitoes in both the room and bathroom. We were received horribly, not even a “welcome” or “hi.” I felt so uncomfortable that I booked another hotel. I’ll never come back.

We discovered this charming, small independent hotel in May 2023 and loved its relaxing feel. For a very reasonable price, we got a perfectly clean, quiet room, a great private bathroom, super comfortable beds, and lovely light, all in a very central location. The proprietor was warm and welcoming. It’s a different experience from a super expensive hotel, so I didn’t give it five stars across the board, but for value it’s five stars. A total winner in my book.
