I preferred the main building at Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua, where the sea views from the tower add something special. The other building looks out onto quiet gardens, and I’ve stayed in both. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, though the furniture and decor feel a bit dated. There’s still plenty of space and convenience. The staff were consistently professional and helpful. The on-site casino is a nice feature if you enjoy gaming, and the restaurant has a good mix of local and international dishes, so it’s easy to find something you like without going out. I had a very pleasant stay and think it’s a solid choice for comfort, service, and either a calm garden setting or an impressive sea view.

Ashley made check-in easy and gave me a helpful overview of the amenities, services, local nightlife, and good restaurants. My room met expectations, was very lady, and had a pool view. The ocean view wasn’t much, but the views were still good. There was no iron in the room, but one was brought up quickly after I called. The pool had a great atmosphere and music, and the gym was very nice. There are tennis courts too. The hotel provides bottled water for brushing your teeth, which is thoughtful for travelers wary of local tap water. I didn’t try the casino, though other tourists said it was nice. I recommend this Renaissance for a comfortable luxury stay.

I’ll stay here again. As a US traveler with limited Spanish, I found the front desk extremely patient and their English excellent. Everyone was friendly and helpful, especially Ashley. The executive lounge is open 24 hours, the casino has live music, housekeeping is thorough, and the beds are comfortable. I felt safe in the area at all hours.

The casino staff were very rude, and nobody spoke English. I handed the cashier a US $100 bill and she couldn’t understand that I wanted pesos to play the machines. Cashing out was another problem, and the people at the cashier’s cage were as rude as could be. There are no free drinks in the casino either, since the waitresses never come around and no one speaks English to take an order.

I love this hotel and choose it every time I’m in Santo Domingo. Check-in always comes with a warm welcome. Everyone is so nice. A special thanks to Ashley for checking whether a room was ready for early check-in. I spend most of my time at the pool, which is never too crowded, and I’ve become friends with the Sol Pool Bar crew. Joaquin is a lovely person and makes a really good piña colada. Shout out to Castro, Pablo, Christian, Esnil, Margarita, and Chef Kenny, whose civiche is always fresh and delicious. Thanks to all of you for making me feel so welcome every time. 10/10.
