Monte Vista

A peaceful spot with an amazing pool. Had a great Airbnb stay. @Casa_estilo_rd

The pool is spacious and has a bar, but there are hardly any loungers in sunny spots. Residents end up competing for them, with some claiming seats as early as six in the morning.

I stayed in one of the freshly renovated apartments at Monte Vista, and it was a great deal. The hotel is undergoing a full renovation, with a newly built gym and a really nice lobby. The customer service was awesome. Great place to stay, and I’d highly recommend it.

The pool is great, and there are some genuinely great people here. But this complex/hotel is buried in scandals, drama, and claims of ripping off residents and guests, making it one of the worst on the north coast for all of that. Getting there is a problem: it’s far from the beach, on a creepy road that feels unsafe and floods in heavy rain. The ditch at the parking entrance is awful and could wreck a car’s transmission. Management is described as deceptive and unscrupulous. They frequently misrepresent or change prices, sometimes raising them well beyond what was first agreed, and multiple people have been screwed over. They also allegedly promise services to owners, then cut them while increasing monthly fees. Contracts may not be honored, including a promised parking space that wasn’t provided, and services they claim to offer may not actually exist. There are also inconsiderate policy decisions, like unnecessary loud maintenance early on many weekend mornings. Legal disputes between the owner and private citizens keep residents from using large common areas. The reviewer says there have been years of further scandals and mistreatment of tenants, owners, and staff. They call it one of the worst places on the North Coast and say there are plenty of better places and people nearby, so they advise avoiding this business and its management.
