The lack of hot water was the biggest problem. Neither room had any, and we couldn't shower properly for the whole week. Our first room had a tiny balcony, about 3 feet by 4 feet, with a strange triangular overhang blocking the ocean view. The toilet seat wouldn't stay up, and we had to ask for a phone. We finally got a room change on day three. It had a proper balcony and a great view, but smelled strongly of smoke, which got into all our belongings. The poor air conditioning left the room muggy and made the odor worse. My partner and I have just come back from seven nights at Casa Marina Select, and it was by far the worst stay we've had despite traveling often. When we arrived, everything on the grounds was closed, and there was no food available for hours, not even at the coffee shop. I had to ask for information about the property, food, and amenities before they printed it for me. There was no room service anywhere in the resort. The gym was barely usable, and the only machine felt so unstable we couldn't use it, so we bought day passes at a local gym. The food was awful. My partner got food poisoning on day two, and we ate off-site for the rest of the trip except for breakfast, when we stuck to eggs and toast. There was no poolside service, so we had to get our own drinks at the bars. Presidente was the only beer on tap across the resort, and the wine came from large plastic containers that looked like cleaning-product bottles. There were no no-smoking sections, and people smoked everywhere. It was disgusting.

We arrived on February 6 and had no hot water. The front office said nobody at the resort had any, but I'd read online reviews before the trip, so I knew this was an ongoing problem. On Sunday the 8th, we spoke to our air transit rep, who said he'd escalate it. Sure enough, the water was hot that night. Then on Monday the 9th, it was cold again. We asked for another room to shower in, but Francis said there was no hot water anywhere. This is very disappointing and unacceptable after we paid to upgrade to VIP. Guests at the general population at. Case marina resort had hot water and great pressure, while ours was lukewarm and weak. My sunburn is the only thing that made showering bearable. I raised this with guest services, including the front desk and Francis twice, and our rep Jonathan, but management never responded. I've read your replies to older complaints saying to escalate issues to the right people. I did that, and nothing changed.

Select Sosua is adults-only, and I had a wonderful stay. The rooms and shared areas were spotless, the food was excellent, and the service was next level. I can't wait to come back. Definitely recommend it!

The staff were excellent, and there was a small beach and lots of pools. The resort is beautiful, with really good food, plenty of buffet choices, and great a la carte options.

Casa Maria Select in Puerto Plata is lovely, with comfortable rooms, delicious food, and friendly staff. Service around the hotel was generally top-notch and made us feel welcome. I'd still recommend staying here for the hospitality, though I'd be careful with the spa services and keep an eye on your money. We'd agreed on a price for a couple's massage, but when we arrived, there was an uncomfortable push to upsell us and a funny vibe that put me on alert. The room was small and not very private, and a phone kept going off. The massage itself was uneven: my masseuse put in very little effort, while my partner's went too far and didn't feel professional. It seemed like the focus was on getting extra tips from the man instead of giving us a relaxing experience.
