Hotel Dar El Aaz Jijel

The room and breakfast were a letdown from the start. Our first room smelled strongly of sewage, and we couldn’t open its window. We’d asked for twin beds but got a king-size bed with a small child’s bed beside it. They moved us straight away when we asked, but the beds were the same in the new room. We were told there were no twin rooms with a sea view, so we guessed they’d just put the small bed beside the double. The room felt stale, the linen was stained, and the furniture was old and dirty. Breakfast was advertised from 6:30, but at 7 the buffet still wasn’t set up and nobody was in the room. We waited, then had an omelette, a croissant, and an orange. The coffee was bitter. Outside, motorbikes and scooters revved right below our window until 2 am, and we couldn’t shut it because the heating was on and the AC didn’t work. When we arrived, the receptionist was cold and unpleasant, barely made eye contact, and didn’t smile. He gave us the room and took payment. It turned out to be the most expensive hotel in town. We wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The TV barely worked, the bathroom and shower were uncomfortable, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work at all. Reception staff gave us misleading information about things and prices, and customer service was very bad. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and I’ll never come back.

The rooms are clean and simple, with nothing fancy. The location and view are great, and the staff and service were good.

Everything was organized, and the view was beautiful. But the staff downstairs really need to learn how to be more professional with customers. I was treated terribly at the front desk.
