Chenoua Hotel

The dinner was delicious, bravo to the chef, and the waiters were friendly, welcoming, and smiling. There were only two of them working for the whole hotel, though, and they clearly had a lot to do. The rest of the stay was awful. Reception staff were unwelcoming and arrogant. The sheets and towels were dirty, and the dusty balcony was covered in ants, as if it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. Before booking, we asked if they could provide a baby bassinet during our stay and were told yes. Once we arrived, they said none was available. We wanted to use the spa, but there was no hot water. We tried to shower in our room, only to find there was no water at all, hot or cold, for the whole day. When it came back around 10 pm, it was very salty. The lift wasn’t working either, so we had to carry the baby and luggage up the stairs. Breakfast was extremely poor, with almost nothing available. It was supposed to start at 6:30, but when we went down at 7, everything was closed and nothing was ready, so we left to find breakfast elsewhere. We asked for coffee in the room in the afternoon, then had to go downstairs to collect it. It came in a plastic cup so we wouldn’t break it. The beach is nearby, but it’s public, always full and crowded. The area around the hotel wasn’t peaceful, so it’s not a place to rest. For the price we paid, the least they could do was apologize and try to improve. I’m sure I won’t return, and I wonder how the hotel got its stars.

The hotel is in a terrific location, but the service was poor and the experience fell below average. I stayed there in October 2021, and the bathroom leaked from all over. Comfort was just okay, very basic, and the food was average. They need to raise their game for tourism.

A nice place in Algeria. I’d go back.

The receptionist was confusing about whether rooms were available. With my family, I wasn’t allowed even a quick look at the room before renting it, though I think it’s fair to check the quality first. I wouldn’t recommend it.
