The $5-per-person animal tour was disappointing. We saw mostly pigeons in very small cages, a few farm animals, and one Galapagos turtle. The guide seemed rushed; her explanation was brief and not interesting, and she was mostly on her phone while we looked around. They say it’s a shelter for mistreated animals, but seeing them in such small cages didn’t make us feel they were living decently. I wouldn’t recommend the tour.

The location is amazing, with nearby day trips to mud Island and a spa bath. There are beautiful, friendly peacocks on site.

Paola knew so much about the property and animals on the tour, and Alfrdo and his wife were so welcoming. We had a great time visiting Saiananda today and seeing both the grounds and all the animals. A must see if you’re in the area!!
