Hotel Norte

From the terrace you can get a nice overview of the area, and the tranvia and bus stops are just steps away. This cozy hotel is on the "9 de Octubre" plaza, with the cathedral, the "plaza Calderon" and many other attractions about 10-15 minutes away on foot. The rooms aren’t the best, but they’re comfortable and have the needed toiletries and hot water.

The staff barely responded when we greeted them and were consistently rude. They didn’t clean the shared bathroom until 7pm the next day, after we asked, and ants were all over the bin. The bed was extremely hard, and the bathroom was cramped, with no soap or place to put your things while showering. Toilet paper was kept outside the toilet, so you had to guess how much you’d need beforehand. This was the worst stay of our two months traveling in South America. Just do yourselves a favor and book somewhere else.

After a long day of travel, we arrived late in the evening, tired and without having eaten since early morning. We were told the room we’d booked wasn’t available. They kept asking us to cancel and take a room at double the price, but the policy didn’t allow cancellation and there would have been no refund. After a long, unpleasant argument with the receptionist, we accepted a lower-value room but still had to pay the Booking price. A really bad experience. Avoid this place.

The room was clean and spacious, with a nice view of the plaza, and the shower had hot water and great pressure. The hotel is well located near many main sights. But one night at 3 am there was loud talking, singing, and music. I don’t know if it was another guest, but staff did nothing about the noise. The staff were generally unfriendly and unmotivated, except for one gentleman. You have to leave your room key when you go out, and once we were locked inside and once outside, waiting for someone to open the door. Laundry was expensive, and sometimes some shady people gather in the plaza in front.
