The screened room made each night feel like we were really in the Amazon, and the lodge grounds were beautiful. We spent four nights at Yarina lodge, with Henry guiding us. From our arrival in Coca, he took such good care of us. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the wildlife outings memorable, with special moments spotting creatures big and small. Everyone at the lodge was a delight. Thank you, Henry and Yarina!

The canoe trip from El Coca takes about an hour, then you’re at this rustic retreat on the Napo River, near the Yarina Ecological Reserve and Yasuní National Park. It’s a great base for Amazon wildlife and culture. The cabins are lovely and built from local bamboo, the food is excellent, and the river tours were really good. I’d highly recommend it.

The daily rhythm worked really well: an outing by foot or canoe in the morning, lunch back at the lodge, time to rest, then another visit before dinner. Some evenings there’s also a night walk in the jungle. Staff, setting, and meals were all great, with good breakfasts and solid lunches and dinners. It’s a top class Amazon lodge and I highly recommend the trip. Internet is available for a charge and worked well. Bring cash for all extras.

Spending time with a local indigenous family was one of the highlights. Our guide shared so much about the flora and fauna during packed days and evenings, and the meals were top notch. The accommodation was excellent too. The owner is a horticulturist, and the gardens are beautiful. Yarina Eco Lodge made for an amazing experience in the Ecuadorian rainforest, highly recommend it.
