Radisson Hotel Guayaquil

The long wait for my food ended up making an already unpleasant stay worse. I asked several times where my order was, and after it took forever to arrive, I politely asked if the meal could be free because of the delay. The staff belittled me and basically suggested I was cheap. I could hear workers whispering about me too, which made me uncomfortable. Emilio and Stella in particular treated me poorly and made me feel unwelcome. As a traveler, you shouldn’t feel judged over a service problem, especially when you haven’t done anything wrong.

Classy and professional, with superb service. Every staff member was amazing!

Susan at reception made both of our stays special. We met her on the way to and from the Galapagos, and she was exceptionally kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. I hope the hotel knows how much she means to guests. The hotel itself looks elegant and fairly modern, and our room was spacious with a view, though the old-fashioned AC was noisy. The airport transfer arranged by the hotel was a plus, but morning traffic made a drive that should take up to 15 minutes last more than 45. We left around 8, so if you need to get to the airport then, a hotel closer by might work better. We only had salads for dinner, and they were great, but took soooo long to arrive even though only another couple was dining there. Breakfast was disappointing: a ready-made buffet, inedible eggs, no vegetables, and mediocre coffee. We tried staying near both this hotel and the famed Malecon 2000, and can’t say which location is worse. There’s not much to do anywhere. A mall is fairly close, and there’s a park for a stroll, though it was extremely hot with hardly any shade.

The staff were very friendly and spoke great English, and airport pickup was easy. But the room was loud, with the AC switching on and off and the temperature never staying steady, so sleeping was hard. Worst of all, I got food poisoning from the restaurant and spent the night throwing up. I was sick on the plane too, making for a rough couple of days.
