Check Inn Olón

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. Pay a few dollars more and stay somewhere else. There were aggressive dogs on the walk there that barked and lunged at me, though they didn’t bite. The place is also under construction, with tools left around and no clear communication to guests about the work. The walls don’t reach the ceiling, so noise from outside and the kitchen carries through. They shut off the water without telling guests they were going to install plumbing. During my stay, the owner abruptly fired the manager and made her leave that day. They fought and moved things around in front of guests all day, which was very uncomfortable and unprofessional. The owner didn’t apologize or communicate with us. At one point I was exercising on the balcony when the owner lit a fire to burn the manager’s stuff. Smoke from the wet logs spread everywhere, so I had to move. The owner then left the area to walk his dog instead of using the fire. Very inconsiderate.

The host was really friendly and helpful, and the bed was clean. But the bathroom and floor were dirty, so it definitely wasn’t very clean overall. The walls don’t go all the way up, and you can hear everything from the other rooms and outside. Dogs barked all night, then a bunch of roosters kept me awake from 02-06am. There wasn’t a curtain, either.

The staff member Robin was really friendly and helpful. I had a great stay at this hostel, and it was great value for the money.

It’s a simple place and wasn’t very clean. If they improve the cleaning, it could be good value.
