Hostal Puerto Engabao Surf Shelter

The surf shelter is such a cozy, clean hostel, and I really loved the vibe. The people who worked and stayed there were lovely, open minded, and helpful. I felt welcome and at home right away. I also liked how the host connected with and supported the local community, and how motivated he was to give something back. I've got only good memories of this place! I'd come back anytime and recommend it to everyone.

Puerto Engabao is a calm, safe little town, just right for anyone after an authentic surfing experience. Daniel and Nadija make the hostel feel like a home away from home. It's peaceful, with a nice mix of guests who are usually up for a chat. The rooftop is amazing, and there are plenty of hammocks for a nap after surfing ;). All in all, don't skip this place on a trip through Ecuador!

Our 12 month trip wouldn't have been the same without our stay at surf shelter. Daniel and Nadija are wonderful, helped us skate and surf, and even helped us with our Spanish. They're locals who are closely involved in the community, and they set up the hostel to support local kids. The place is super nice and relaxed, right in a perfect spot in engabao. Don't think twice about booking here!

If surfing and meeting fun people along the way are what you're after, this is the place for you. The rooms, atmosphere, and people were all great. Daniel was a fantastic host, shared the best places to eat in town, helped us find our way around the local spots, and was a pleasure to spend time with. This is a surf shelter, so it might not suit you if you don't surf. Enjoy!
