We stayed three nights with my family at hotel Sierra Negra, and it suited the island’s vibe perfectly. Isla Isabela was a wonderful escape from busy city life, especially falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The hotel is beachfront, within walking distance of beach bars and restaurants, and the whole town is easy to get around on foot. The staff were so friendly, and our rooms were kept clean despite all the sand we brought in each day. We had plenty of comfort for a short stay.

The beachside location is great, with a grocery store, restaurants and other things close by. But there really aren’t any accommodations. It might work for one night, though they blasted music at 6:30 in the morning. There were ants in the room, and the blanket was so thin I basically slept under a sheet. The bed was much too firm for me, too. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The host welcomed us and let us check in early so we could get some much-needed rest after the early ferry from Santa Cruz. The showers were lovely and hot, and there’s a lookout point not far from the room. Everything you need is within walking distance. The view is great, and the sound of the ocean waves is calming.

We stepped off the boat and straight into paradise. Gonzalo was always around to welcome us and check that everything was okay. The small, quiet hotel sits right on a spectacular beach, great for swimming, with world-class turquoise colors. Fantastic food at low prices is just a short walk away. Isabela Island is a special place, and we couldn’t have asked for a better trip.

The staff and location are both amazing. Hot water in the shower can be an issue sometimes when it’s busy. Highly recommend.
