Gustavo was very friendly, and the bathroom was small but clean. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, but the curtains were see-through, so there was no privacy. Breakfast was basic. Since the hotel is by a busy road, the noise made it impossible to sleep. For what you get, I thought it was overpriced.

The shower was good, and breakfast was nice and simple. We were on the second floor, though, which made handling our luggage difficult.

I’d happily come back. The cabanas are spacious, have a fridge, and the bed and room were clean. The prices are good too. Breakfast was delicious, and the guy brought it right to my room, I had tigrillo, plantains with something else I can’t remember. My room light wasn’t working, but they fixed it. The TV was decent, though only in Spanish, and they could update a few things like the TV and paper dispensers. I gave it four stars because five would mean top-notch decor. There’s also a nice pizzeria out front.

Most of the rooms are nice, but mine faced the street and was so noisy I couldn't sleep. The night staff wouldn't move me to an inside room, even though some were empty.

I stayed at this beautiful, locally run Hostal twice, for several days each time, and both visits were more than amazing. Norma and Nelson are so kind and helpful. They know everyone around Puyo and helped with all sorts of unusual questions and needs while I was preparing for, and reviewing, a month-long rainforest stay. They even called family members to find information for me. When I got sick, they gave me medicine and tea, and let me cook in the kitchen, which normally isn’t open to guests. They care about their work and try to run the Hostal in an environmentally friendly way. Breakfast has a few options, usually bread and eggs cooked different ways, though they might serve fried yucca or maduro depending on what’s available that day. It comes with fruit or yogurt, juice, and coffee or tea. The food is as organic and clean as it gets, and all the staff are friendly. Rooms are clean, and the water gets wonderfully hot after about a minute. It’s a perfect location for me, around a four-minute walk from the center. For lunch or dinner, there’s a vegetarian restaurant a few meters farther up the road. It doesn’t look like much, but the local food is yummy, healthy, clean, and cheap, and the woman running it is very friendly. Traffic on the road nearby can get a bit noisy, but after a day I stopped consciously noticing it. The homely feel more than makes up for it. Stretch out in a hammock in the small courtyard, watch tropical birds in the lush plants, and you’ll feel serene. Nelson and Norma are building another cabaña-style section in the jungle just outside Puyo. It’s meant to be very quiet and fully organic, so watch for it to open soon.
