Hostal Huanacauri

Rina's paintings are all around the hostel, and you can buy them if you like. They give the place a lot of charm. It's a calm, comfortable spot in the old center, with breakfast included and a good price for the stay. I'd recommend it.

We were glad we'd only booked one night. There was barely anyone else staying, and the owners repeatedly asked us to stay another night or bring friends. The place felt strange, and we were uncomfortable. After checkout, we spent about half an hour in the hostel before leaving. Then they accused us of abusing the place and suddenly wanted to charge us for another night because we'd used the Wi-Fi, though nobody had told us there'd be a charge. We left as soon as we could. The kitchen was dirty, the mattress sagged, and the bathroom could have been cleaner.

I barely slept and ended up leaving for a better hostel. The sheets smelled like welding and didn't seem clean, there was no hot water, and the bathroom wasn't very clean. The hosts, a mother and son, were kind, but I felt uncomfortable. When I arrived, the host was drunk. I was the only guest, which had seemed odd at first, but I understand why now.

A lovely place with an artistic feel, though the kitchen needs to be better organized.
