The only real positives were how well the owner communicated and her accommodating our very late check-in after our bus was delayed. We booked because of the high Google and Booking ratings, but were hugely disappointed. The kitchen was filthy, with cat food on the counters and dirt across the floor, table, cupboards, drawers, and fridge. The beds in our room looked like someone had recently slept in them, and the sheets neither looked nor smelled freshly cleaned.

After I got very sick for a few days from some bad ceviche, Yeleny took me to the hospital, helped me communicate with the staff in Spanish, checked on me, and brought me back when I was done. She has a heart of gold and went far beyond what I expected. Her kindness and energy are a big part of what makes the place so lovely. It’s in a great location, and Yeleny, her dog Chiquito, and her cat Palmita make it feel like home. I’d recommend staying here in Vilcabamba. Until next time.

The kitchen was probably my favourite part, it’s so well equipped and just lovely. The pool was clean and nice, and the rooms were spacious, clean, and had hot showers with great water pressure. The host was incredibly kind and welcoming. One of my favourite hostels ever.

The living room is cozy and relaxed, and there’s a beautiful pool and a big, fully equipped kitchen. Everything was clean and centrally located, and it felt like home to me. Yeleny is a wonderful host who opens her house and shares her vibe if that’s what you’re looking for. She knows great places to explore and is always happy to answer questions.
