Grand Rose SPA Hotel

I found the room too traditional for my taste. The spa and sauna area were nice, but the breakfast rooms aren't sized or staffed for the number of guests.

The style of the hotel and spa is a bit peculiar, but everything was clean and worked. Staff were very friendly. There are several different saunas, and the massage was done well. Breakfast was fresh, tasty, and had something for every taste.

We had a great time in Kuressaare, with plenty of walks and good food, and we'll gladly come back to the town. We won't stay at Grand Rose Hotel Spa again. During our few days there in July 2025, our room faced a busy, noisy street and was the stuffiest I've ever experienced. When we asked about air conditioning, the receptionist politely suggested opening the windows, but we couldn't sleep with them open because of the street. With them shut, the room quickly heated up and there was hardly any air at night. We couldn't find any ventilation either. I'd like to see management try sleeping in that room for one night and then tell me they slept well. The shower door was broken, so our morning shower flooded the bathroom. The damp air from there spread into the already stuffy room, and it began to smell bad. We asked the staff to clean the bathroom while we were at breakfast. They came around 3 pm, and the cleaning amounted to emptying the bins. By then the hotel felt like a joke. At dinner, my husband and I looked at each other and said we didn't want to go back to that airless room. The second night was even hotter. Around 2am we woke up, both wishing the night would end as soon as possible. I have no idea who gave this hotel 4 stars. I'm pretty sure even 2 star hotels have air to breathe.

The restaurant is seamlessly connected to the spa, so you can order food and drinks with your wristband. They have strawberry and orange water for free, and it was much better than plain water. The pools have the usual basics and a few extras, making that part very nice for the price. There are seven saunas, with some better than others, but enough good ones to keep the variety enjoyable. The steam sauna was excellent, and the salt sauna was interesting. A couple of saunas had distracting music or even a TV. There's also an outdoor sauna with a patio and evening sauna rituals, which we didn't attend.
