Vanalinna Hotel

The cafe service was very pleasant, and the food and drinks tasted great. The hotel's location was another plus. But staying in the luxury room was uncomfortable. The air conditioning didn't work, and the windows couldn't be opened. The fan only moved the air around without cooling the room. The furnishings and furniture didn't feel worthy of a luxury room, either. Water also drained slowly from the shower. That's what I can say about the hotel.

The breakfast was excellent, and the cafe staff were especially warm and friendly. The hotel is also in a great area, close to the center and convenient for getting around. We had a suite, but the broken air conditioning made the room terribly stuffy even though it was cloudy and rainy outside. The fan was noisy and didn't help at all, so we couldn't sleep. It was a truly awful night. I can only imagine how uncomfortable it would be in warm weather. Very disappointing for a hotel at this level.

The location was the one good thing. My tiny attic room cost €82 for one night and was unbearably hot, with no air conditioning and only a small, useless fan. Check-in was exactly at 3 PM, with no flexibility. There was no hotel staff, just a woman from the cafe trying to answer questions while serving customers, so I had to wait. I asked to switch rooms and was told they were all full unless I paid another €70. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom but no outlet to plug it into. A very stressful stay. I don't recommend it.

The location is right in the heart of Kuressaare, so that gets 5/5. The rooms were nice and clean, 4/5, though the Wi-Fi didn't reach ours. Service gets 3/5: there isn't a proper reception area, and it shares space with the cafe.
