Kuus Tuba

The owners made me feel at home from the very first minute. And thanks for the fresh herbs and salad from the garden, too.

The sauna was fantastic, the rooms were clean, and the hosts were friendly. Booking was straightforward, and the place felt authentic, simple, and good. We stayed for one night and it suited our needs really well. There’s a kitchen on-site for making meals, plus a shop nearby.

We liked the simple rooms for the price, with clean bed linen, towels, Wi-Fi, and 220v sockets. The kitchen is shared by all the rooms, which was fine with us and gave us a chance to chat with other guests. The family was friendly and helpful, and offered us a separate laundry and sauna room so we wouldn’t have to use the shared shower. There’s also an outdoor grill for cooking. The holiday home is right in the middle of Leisi village, with a Coop store, bus stop, and pharmacy in town. Angla wind farm and Panga Bank are nearby too. It was easy to find, with directional signs along the way and a large sign showing the place’s number, so we didn’t have to search for it on our phone.

The warm, personal welcome is a big part of the appeal at Kuus Tuba. The hosts took our wishes into account, shared local island stories, suggested places to visit, and, when we were interested, gave us an introduction to the distant history. If you’re after that kind of welcome and don’t expect lots of amenities, it’s a good fit. The price is one of the lowest in the area, so what follows was a pleasant surprise. It’s in the center of Leisi village, within walking distance of the beach, Sassimaja pub, shop, and bus stop. The rooms are simple, with clean sheets and towels and enough sockets for chargers and other things. The kitchen is shared and well equipped with dishes, cutlery, a fridge, stove, kettle, microwave, and more. With few other guests, we never had to queue. A coffee machine or press would have been nice, though coffee, tea, and sugar are free. The toilets, one on each floor, were clean and tidy. There’s just one shared shower, which might not be enough when all the rooms are full. They take care to reduce coronavirus risk, with disinfectants available throughout and rooms left “quarantined” for a few days after guests leave. Everything was very clean.
