For 38-40 EUR through booking dot com with genius level 3, I had a whole room to myself instead of a hostel bunk, which made it great value. It’s close to the bus station, cafes, and restaurants, and the wifi was strong. The room stayed warm, around 23-25 degrees, I think. The bed was made up, and there was a little fridge, plates, cutlery, a microwave, and an electric kettle. The kitchen paper roll was especially handy when I ordered curry. There was also a small table, a stool, a comfy chair, a bedside cabinet, two layers of warm blankets, and 3-4 hangers for coats and other things. The bathroom was spacious, with a toilet, two spare rolls of paper, a large and a small towel, and a sink right by the toilet, which I always appreciate. There was a mirror with holders for toiletries, a warm shower with 2-in-1 soap, and soap at the sink too. That’s a big plus for me, since some hostels in the EU don’t provide any. The woman at reception was welcoming and good-natured, and even chatted with me when she heard I spoke a little Estonian. Check-in was meant to start at 14:00, but I got the key at 12:00. Check-out was also at 12:00, which is generous compared with the usual 10:00 or 11:00 elsewhere. A good, affordable stay in Pärnu. I’ll definitely come back when I visit in summer.

My single room was really well equipped, almost perfect. A cleaning sponge for the kitchenware would be the one thing I’d suggest adding. Reception service varied. The person who checked me in seemed to hate her job, while check-out was handled nicely and professionally. I’d read complaints about loud music, apparently Wednesday through Saturday. I’m somewhat deaf, so with the window shut it wasn’t much of an issue for me. If you’re a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

It was clean and reasonably priced, but I mainly needed somewhere decent to sleep, and that didn’t happen. People apparently play loud music late into the night, keeping the neighbors awake for hours. The thermostat seemed to do its own thing: even with it set to maximum cold in early March, I was still boiling. And the skylight let in a lot of light, with a shutter that seemed impossible to reach. In the end, the room just wasn’t suitable for a proper night’s rest.

The rooms are okay for a budget stay, but the place is above bars where the music was thumping past 3 am, even on a Wednesday. The guy at the front desk in the morning was unbelievably rude too. Worst stay I had anywhere in the Baltics. There are plenty of lovely, central places nearby that are quiet and have nice staff. Stay at one of those instead.

Right in the heart of Pärnu, so the hostel puts you close to all the main spots, for better or worse. It’s directly across from two popular nightlife places, and with the window open for fresh air you’ll hear what’s going on well into the night. The rooms are comfortable and have the basics you’d want, including a fridge, hot plate, shower, and television. It’s a cozy place, and the monthly off-season rates are very affordable.
