Villa Ammende is a destination on its own, and Art Nouveau fans should see it even if they don’t stay overnight. We were there in March during the quieter season and nearly had the whole hotel to ourselves. Staying in such a distinctive historic place was a treat, with beautifully considered interior details. Our room was just right, and both the service and breakfast were lovely. I’d really encourage people to go.

It was a pleasant stay, but we came away with mixed feelings. With a young child, it may simply not have been the right fit for us. A couple might have a different experience. The evening meal was lovely and the breakfast was nice, with really attentive service. Dinner felt quite high-end, though, and we were conscious of our little one while couples around us were having romantic fine dining. It was also hard to find food that worked fully for the child. More guidance about this and some alternatives would help. The weather was poor, so we didn’t explore nearby places to eat. The room was spacious and comfortable. It’s a bit dated, but that adds to the hotel’s charm. It didn’t feel like a five-star old house compared with similar places elsewhere in Europe, more like a UK B&B, but it was still nice. There were sweet touches for young kids, including a soft toy monkey in the cot that our little one loved so much she took it into the bath. There seemed to be only one high chair, which could be awkward if more than two babies are there, though it didn’t affect us.

Great staff, huge rooms, and one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had in my life. It was à la carte, so take your time 😁

The room was as expected, but our 10th anniversary dinner was a big letdown. The restaurant didn’t come close to our previous experience. The food was heavily seasoned and the drinks list was very limited. For the owners, a pop-up restaurant in Pärnu can’t charge Tallinn prices for below-average food quality, unless customers are happy to pay that much for it.

The gardens and Art Nouveau architecture make the Villa an amazing place to stay. The staff were friendly and breakfast was superb. Definitely the best place to stay in Pärnu!
