We especially liked the fried rye bread soaked in butter, I think it was called kepta duona. The schnitzel and sausage stew with mashed potatoes were great, too. The food and atmosphere made this place a hit for us, and the staff were really friendly. If you're from out of town, it's a must stop.

We tried the fried fish, liver, and a cheese snack, and everything tasted fresh and good. There are lots of dishes to choose from, the drinks were delicious, and service was quick. The restaurant has a nice rustic look, and the staff were friendly. We'll definitely come back.

The two things I enjoyed most were the rye distillate Handsa Hõbetiigli Kangus and the rhubarb dessert Kamavahu-rabarberi maiuspala. I had to look them up myself to find out what they were, thanks, ChatGPT! It would help if the menu explained what traditional dishes are and where they come from. Otherwise, expats like us are left curious about authentic local food without much guidance. A playlist of pleasant Estonian folk music could add to the atmosphere, too. The music inside was overplayed 80s hits. I visited Tartu on August 24, 2025, and liked the venue, which is presented as a traditional Estonian restaurant. It has a beer garden style, with big indoor halls, outdoor verandas, and a concert stage. On a summer Sunday evening it was quite empty, with only about a dozen guests, around half of them expats. The menu didn't make traditional Estonian dishes easy to spot.

That feta salad was the best I've ever had in Estonia. Chef, please keep the marinade exactly as it is, I'd happily bathe in it! 🤭 My fiancé and I had a fabulous evening. The food and atmosphere were incredible, and a very polite gentleman gave us outstanding service. It's not the cheapest restaurant in Tartu, but the price feels fair for that quality and service. Thanks for making our evening perfect! ❤️

The atmosphere is pleasant, with music playing at just the right level. And the food is really, really delicious: chicken soup with dumplings, garlic-sauce fried bread, sweet potato chips, and excellent meat. Super tasty, definitely worth a visit.
