The kids' playground and village swing are a lovely touch. The tiny holiday houses feel like a cozy little wonderland, and they’re kept impeccably. The host was outstanding, friendly and helpful.

It’s a short walk to the beach, which is nice, but the place is very, very basic. If you’re okay with that, you’ll enjoy your stay.

The lake is conveniently close, about a 5-10-minute walk from the cottage, and the hostess was kind and polite. The owner heats the sauna, though we couldn’t get it above 80 degrees, so it never reached a comfortable temperature. It’s a little cramped but fits five people. The owner didn’t complain about noise or anything else from our group. The room linens were clean and crisp white, and there was a hairdryer and clothes dryer in the house. But the overall cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The table in the main house was dusty, cobwebs were everywhere, and the dishes were missing or hadn’t been washed for a while. The kitchen refrigerator was ancient and badly dented, though it did both cool and freeze. There aren’t many houses in the puhkemaja, so it seemed like cleaning could happen at least monthly, or every two weeks. For grilling kebabs, bring your own grill, poker, skewers and full set if you can. The one there was full of holes and dents, and its grates were disgustingly black. Eating meat stained with soot wasn’t pleasant. Firewood was included, and you could ask for more if needed. The shower and toilet weren’t to my liking either. The toilet is very narrow, like in the USSR. One window screen had a hole, so with mosquitoes so wild and terribly hungry, we couldn’t leave the window open overnight. The beds are awkwardly arranged with feet toward the sun and heads toward the door. There’s no other way to place them, and it seems meant to save space, but it could have been handled differently. There also weren’t enough roller blinds or curtains, so passersby could easily see inside, which was extremely inconvenient. The main house looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while.
