Tampere Maja SA Hotel

Our rooms stayed warm and cozy even though it was -18C the day we arrived. I’d worried when I saw the old building, but there were no drafts. It’s a nice guesthouse in a good spot near the town square, and the rooms have that old-building charm. Upstairs there’s a shared space with a fridge, microwave, kettle, and coffee machine, so you can sort out little snacks with the family. There are a few parking spots, which worked well on a quiet day. The staff are very friendly. They aren’t there around the clock, but you get keys so you can come and go freely.

The location is striking, right in the heart of the city. The staff were nice, and the room had the cozy, practical feel of an old-fashioned apartment. It’s linked to the Tampere-Tartu city friendship, but everyone is welcome.

The room was spacious, and the wooden building has a real old-time feel and atmosphere. It’s practically in the city center, so getting around on foot is easy. I enjoyed the stay at Tampere Maja. The staff were helpful, and breakfast was very good. Guests can also use a small sauna for an extra charge.

The bed was comfortable, and having two quilts was great. We stayed in room 3. The place is basic, but good for the price, and it has the feel I imagine Finnish houses have. The city center is just a couple of minutes away on foot, and the location is perfect. Breakfast felt true to the Nordic style, and the coffee was fantastic. The staff were welcoming. There’s a car park, and I’d definitely stay again. There was no bath, which I don’t expect in hotels anymore. The main downside was the hot water tank: it wasn’t big enough for two decent showers, so the second person needs to be quick. The room has good air conditioning, which you’ll need because the window can’t be opened. I’d suggest adding blackout curtains, since waking up to summer daylight at 4-5am is too early.
