LOO Guesthouse

The rhubarb wine was really wonderful, but it’s much cheaper at the lovely Hafen restaurant in Kuressaare, where you get 80 cl for 8 Eur instead of 60 cl for 7 Eur here. We stopped on our way to Kuressaare after reading the good reviews and ordered lamb, cheesecake and the wine. The lamb was cold, dry and tough, with two cold, junk-food-like sauces and some cold vegetables. The portion and plate were small, and 22 Eur was far too much for that quality. The cheesecake was cold and hard, as if it had just come out of the freezer. Prices here are really high and the food quality was way below average. Service was pitiful too. We paid cash, and the waiter asked if he should bring us change, about 10 Eur. Don’t waste your time here. Hafen in Kuressaare has about the same prices and really top-notch food.

The food was what really blew me away. The duck and chanterelle pasta were amazing, so good I forgot to take photos. The wine tasting was interesting and tasty too. It’s a unique place, with a beautiful vineyard on beautiful Muhu island, and the people and service were lovely. There are stairs to reach the toilets and indoor restaurant, though the outside terrace was lovely as well.

The place itself is okay, but the owner’s attitude puts you off coming back. I should have listened to the reviews here. This was my first experience, and definitely my last. Be wiser than I was.

Saturday’s “rosvopaisti” dinner was memorable and excellent, and the Finnish owner was very nice and considerate. We stayed in a lovely penthouse that was really clean, with everything guests needed provided in the room. It’s a wonderful place to step away from a busy life for a while, with a beautiful courtyard and nice staff.
