Raml Armed Forces Hotel

Such a nice place.

The location is great and the rooms are spacious, but the management is so poor. The staff seem poorly trained, and rooms aren’t cleaned unless you ask. Bring your own toilet paper and shampoo. The facilities are generally poorly maintained, there’s no internet, and there’s no car park.

The rooms were huge and comfortable, but the stay wasn’t what we expected at all. Nobody told us when we booked that it was still a military hotel, even though it had been recommended by Lonely Planet. On arrival, they wanted to put us in separate rooms because we weren’t married. There was no wifi either. We requested breakfast at 10:00, but by 10:30 there was still no word, so we left.

I was sad to see the old pictures and other things tied to the past removed. I think the hotel dates back to 1960 or something like that, and that history made it unique. The library is still there, which is good. New places are everywhere, but unique ones are rare. The new furniture is also very good, and the service and prices make sense after the renovation. I’ve loved staying here for more than 10 years, but I hope they won’t renovate every part. If they do, I hope they keep the spirit of the place.
