Triomphe Hostel

We booked a twin room, but the host gave us a three-room bedroom. Everything was okay, and it’s a nice place to stay.

The staff were hospitable and friendly, and there was someone on site around the clock. Our room was spacious, with a nice balcony and a high ceiling. Triomphe Hotel is a great choice, set in a heritage-filled building that’s 120 years old, right in Downtown Raml Station.

The sea views were lovely from both rooms I tried, and the hostel sits right along the coast, so it’s easy to find. The rooms were pleasant, the beds comfortable, and the place generally clean. Staff were helpful whenever we needed directions or anything else. There’s a convenience store across the street, and the building has an elevator. I’ve stayed twice and had very little to complain about. In both rooms, though, the door wouldn’t close properly. We ended up breaking the key to deal with it, and if someone went out while the others slept, they had to lock them in. The Wi-Fi was extremely weak, so I had to use it in the hall. That was manageable with such a beautiful setting.

The old cage elevators stop running from 4 to 6 pm, so plan around that. With six floors and high ceilings, taking the stairs is a long walk. The building has a few wall marks and other maintenance issues, but it also has a kitchen with a microwave and large, charming common rooms. I liked the vintage hospitality, the historic building, and the luxurious antique wooden furnishings. The bathroom was spotless, with a large hot-water tank above the tub. Staff were nice and spoke great English. There’s a chair on the balcony where you can look toward the blue sea at the end of the street, and the place is near the main historic and transit square.
