The room was roomy and comfortable, and the guesthouse is tucked into a quiet, natural setting with a lovely rooftop view. Amjad was welcoming and checked in regularly to make sure I was all right. When I had to leave very early, he even prepared lunch for me to take along. If I return to Elephantine island, I’d stay here again.

Meals and several excursions were easy to arrange through the very welcoming host. The hotel sits in peaceful, charming surroundings, and the rooftop view over the Nile is magnificent. I’d gladly recommend it.

Amgad was friendly and readily available to arrange excursions at very reasonable prices. He handled the details, including boat trips to nearby islands; Abu Simbel is also an option. St. Simeon Monastery is especially beautiful. We had a very pleasant, quiet stay at El Prince Guesthouse, with a terrace overlooking the Nile and easy access to Aswan.

The beds were great and the service was good. We did get locked out, which turned into an adventure involving climbing a tree to get back into our room. They also drove us back to our cruise ship themselves, which was a nice extra.

Amjad and his cousin were there whenever we needed something, and the rooftop terrace is a peaceful spot to take in Aswan’s historic sights. The rooms were clean and the water pressure was excellent. Elephantine Island feels like a whole different world once you leave the intensity and bustle of Egyptian life behind. It deserves to be its own country, and El Prince is the crown jewel. If you’re staying in Aswan, choose Elephantine Island, and if you’re there, stay at El Prince. Really recommend it.
