Horizon Nile Plaza

The Nile and Cairo views from the hotel, which starts on the 31st floor, were amazing. Since there’s no hotel sign at street level, kind and helpful staff came out to meet us. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a balcony looking over the Nile. It was very affordable, and breakfast and airport pickup were free. I’d stay here again.

The one thing I’d mark down is breakfast, which was only okay for presentation and quality. Otherwise, this was one of the best places I’ve stayed, period. The rooms were very clean, the service warm and friendly, and the Nile view was great. You might even see the pyramids, depending on the weather. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for something beyond basic in Cairo.

For the price, the service and condition were nowhere near good enough. We stayed three nights and nobody cleaned our room or changed the towels. Some ceiling lights were broken, the room had poor sound insulation and was extremely noisy even on the top floor, and there was black dust around the vents and elsewhere. The common area had broken ceramic too. The mattresses were good, at least. Maybe it was a nice place ten years ago, but it looks like nothing has been renovated since. I can’t understand the good rating, and wonder if there’s a big difference between before and after COVID. My worst hotel experience. Go somewhere else.

The view of the Nile was spectacular, and breakfast was fresh and amazing, especially the ful and falafel. But there was no fire escape or signage, the stairway was cluttered and dirty, and it smelled of cigarettes. The finishes were poor.
