We spent nearly three hours at the hotel café, from about 7:30 PM to around 10:00 PM, on 29 May 2026, and left with a very poor impression. For a five-star hotel carrying the Westin name, the service, guest handling and management response fell far short. The atmosphere itself felt tense. Staff, including the manager, seemed unhappy and unwelcoming, without the warmth I’d expect from a luxury hotel. When I raised two concerns with the manager, I expected them to listen and take responsibility. Instead, the manager seemed to defend the waiter and offered what felt like a routine “it won’t happen again.” There was little effort to understand what had happened or make us feel heard. Our waiter, Bishoy, was defensive from the start. We asked whether shisha was available, since it starts at 7:30 PM, and he replied along the lines of, “I didn’t say anything to you, I didn’t tell you anything.” It was an unnecessary response to a simple question and made the interaction uncomfortable. Later, when we all needed the restroom, Bishoy told us to leave a bag or other personal item on the table. As paying guests, we found that surprising and uncomfortable; it felt as if we were being treated with suspicion. I said that if we were expected to leave belongings behind, staff should be responsible for them. He pointed to the cameras. I said the cameras weren’t my concern and that someone should look after guests’ valuables. He answered, “Okay, under my responsibility. My name is Bishoy,” in a tone that felt aggressive and confrontational. Management should take this experience seriously.

The hotel is peaceful, and it’s easy to get around on foot, which made it a nice place to spend a few days. Check-in and checkout were smooth, and the staff were generally friendly. We ended up eating at Mivida or EDNC every day. Their restaurants were great, cost a fraction of the hotel’s, and were only 10 minutes away. The hotel’s breakfast, room service and restaurant meals were all expensive, and the quality didn’t justify the prices, even by five-star resort standards. The grounds often had litter or discarded cigarettes on the floor, which isn’t what I’d expect at a five-star resort. The pools looked lovely and were large, but they weren’t heated, so we enjoyed them much less.

I used to like this place, but it no longer felt safe to me, especially with the lower quality and staff attitude. At the security gate, one of the staff became hostile and verbally insulted me and my family, including my uncle and his wife, regular guests visiting from the United States. He then repeatedly struck the car with his hands and kicked it. Since the incident, management hasn’t followed up. I specifically asked the Hotel Manager to contact me, but got no response or callback. Yesterday, after that silence, my brother went to the hotel and spoke with deputy manager Khaled. Khaled firmly promised to call us back to resolve things, but we still haven’t heard from him. I asked to check the CCTV footage because I believed there were no cameras at the gates. Mr. Khaled assured me that every area was covered. I’m asking management to review the gate footage promptly and take appropriate disciplinary action. No guest should feel unsafe because of staff, then be ignored after a serious incident. The alleged vandalism and broken promises show an unacceptable lack of respect and accountability for a five-star international resort.

The team made us feel comfortable from our first day right through checkout. Whenever we needed help or asked for something for the room, it arrived quickly, and everyone was ready to assist. Kitchen, cleaning and reception staff were all 10/10: friendly, kind, generous, cheerful, welcoming and always smiling. Housekeeping deserves special thanks for the great service and attention to detail; they made us feel at home. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every moment. Their warm attitude made the stay a great experience, and we’d recommend the hotel to anyone looking for good service, high hygiene and a pleasant atmosphere.

The heating was the one thing that affected our stay. Our room got really cold at night, and the AC and heating system wasn’t working properly. We called maintenance multiple times, but they couldn’t fix it. I don’t know whether the heating is generally unreliable or if we were unlucky with that room, but it did interfere with our sleep. If you’re visiting in winter, maybe check the heating as soon as you arrive. Otherwise, we had a very good four-night stay in January at The Westin Cairo Golf Resort & Spa. The spacious, well-designed rooms, lovely grounds and relaxing feel made it enjoyable to walk around the golf course or spend time by the pool. Breakfast had plenty of high-quality choices, and we also loved the spa pool and sauna. It’s a good base for exploring New Cairo. The city center is a bit far, but in our view the drive is worthwhile: hotels downtown are usually much older, while this one feels modern and fresh. I’d recommend it.
