I spent three hours here while only the main halls were open and was glad the ticket included a museum guide. She helped me make sense of the layout. I liked the huge vaulted entrance and Ramses II statue, and the space is naturally ventilated. Travelators take you to the halls. There's a lot of walking, so I'd use them on the way up and walk down through the displays. The route goes from the outside of temples to their interiors, then representations of the dead, and finally a view of the pyramids of Giza. There are 12 halls, mostly organized by theme, I think, rather than chronology. A lot of objects lack date labels, descriptions, or context, so the displays can feel random. The guide helped with that. For once, nobody asked me for a tip, and she didn't linger expecting one. My favorites were the stone sketches used for practicing writing, the jewelry, and the fact that apparently nothing is a reproduction.

The room was comfortable and extremely clean, the beds were very comfortable, and it was quiet. The pyramid view was there, technically, so those are the reasons I gave it three stars. Still, I don't think I'd return. The place was hard to find, and arriving late at night was frightening. No one answered the phone, and my best friend and I spent about two hours trying to locate it on Google before we could officially check in. The building didn't feel welcoming, the booking photos didn't match what we saw, and I had serious safety concerns. The water heater didn't work, so the shower was cold and I skipped washing my hair. We only got breakfast on one of the three mornings. Going in and out also made the stay less appealing.

We left after the first night because the place wasn't what it seemed. It felt more like a shared apartment with private rooms and bathrooms than a hotel, and if it had been advertised that way, I would have rated it better. The location felt scary, and even Uber couldn't find it. The entrance in the pictures belongs to a building with several other businesses; the “hotel” appears to be one flat with several rooms. The room did have a nice view, but the air conditioning didn't work, so it was very hot overnight. We couldn't open the windows because there were no mosquito nets. Water also drained poorly in the shower. That issue was fixed, but I can't say whether there was a pipe problem, since the bathroom smelled really bad.

The team made check-in easy, and the directions were clear. Uber was another convenient way to get around. The apartment was comfortable and luxurious, with stunning pyramid views, and the location directly opposite the new Grand Museum made exploring easy. Mostafa greeted me and helped with my luggage. Thanks also to Walid, Hisham, and Yasser for their warm hospitality and attention to detail. The stay exceeded all my expectations, and I'd highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Cairo. The team really goes above and beyond. Thanks for making the trip unforgettable!

Nightmare. The “hotel” is an apartment on the eighth floor of a destroyed building. If the lift is out, getting up eight flights means tackling broken steps in the dark. The apartment has seven rooms facing the entrance, so it's very noisy. There's no terrace and nowhere to have breakfast.
