Moses Pyramids Inn

We booked Moses Pyramids Inn through Agoda, but left as soon as we arrived and never stayed. The room and bathroom were extremely dirty and poorly maintained, far below an acceptable standard. The location also felt unsafe, especially at night, and unsuitable for tourists. The photos were completely misleading and didn’t show the actual condition of the property. Agoda unfortunately refused to refund us, even though the place wasn’t as described. We felt the listing misrepresented the hotel and strongly don’t recommend it. Be careful before booking.

I wish Google had a zero rating for places like this. We were taken in by the Booking.com ratings, but there was no proper reception to help when problems came up, and the staff were rude and unresponsive. The room lacked basic things: no water, cups, tea, or electric kettle; the bathroom light didn’t work, the flush jet was broken, and the towels were torn. There was nobody to contact about these issues. The hotel itself has no real pyramid view. For breakfast, we had to go to a nearby building and climb five floors without a lift. The meal was only 2-3 kinds of dry bread, jam, cheese, and a few cookies, with no fruit or fresh food. On day one, they brought coffee with milk after we asked; on day two, they said the milk had run out. They refused our request for cookies for the kids, and the serving staff walked away while we were still eating. The place was very unclean too. Even after we asked, there were no tissues, and the table wasn’t cleaned between breakfast guests. Nearby hotels cost half as much and are much better. Don’t be fooled by “last room left” alerts either, since most nearby hotels seemed only 20-30% occupied. A terrible experience. I wouldn’t recommend Moses Pyramid Inn even for free.

Buyer beware. Google Maps brings you to a different hotel out front, and you have to walk around behind to find this one. It felt dangerous to walk around at night. Haggle will befriend you and then exploit you. I booked two nights but stayed only one. The photos are deceptive, and although my room had a balcony, the patio door didn’t lock securely. Saving money isn’t worth risking your safety.

The pyramids were just a short walk away, and breakfast with that view was unforgettable. I was also allowed to check in as early as 4am, which was a big help after a long trip. Mosses and Ahmed, the owners and brothers, treated me like family. They even came around with me because they were genuinely worried about scams near the pyramids. On my last night they surprised me with traditional Egyptian food their mom had cooked, and it was amazing. Huge thanks to them for such a warm, memorable stay. Highly recommended!
