A south desi review. The food was decent, and a small local hotel nearby made the grilled items just how we wanted, with extra spice. Staff were accommodating and gladly moved us to a 3-bed room when we asked. The stay was pleasant overall, though a few flies around were annoying.

The rooftop is great for a pyramid view if your room doesn’t have one. Rooms were clean, and housekeeping and the front desk were both kind and helpful. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, and Tariq was a super great guy. Great value for money, with great staff from reception to housekeeping to restaurants. Some reviews might describe one-off situations.

The reception service was good, but that was the only positive. The hot water kept switching between hot and cold, and the toilet water gun leaked. Water there could suddenly get boiling hot and burn you. The second twin bed was broken, with a hole-like dip in the middle, and the whole wall had mold or something. I was supposed to get a complimentary airport pickup. The hotel contacted me to arrange it and said someone would be waiting with my name, so I felt relieved since I know about taxi scams. When I arrived, I called and was told nobody was coming and there must have been a mix-up. I ended up paying 1800 pounds for a taxi because I was too tired to book an Uber at 3am. After I checked in and settled, I found out that ride would have cost 250 pounds. I returned because they’d said we’d get a free drop-off. At the bus station, when I asked if they could pick us up, they asked for 30 dollars. Since they hadn’t picked me up at the hotel, I expected it to be complimentary. Technically, I was owed two free services.

I booked a balcony room with a Pyramid view, but it wasn’t available when we arrived at 1 AM. I’d been in touch with the hotel all day about their $25 USD airport pickup, which I think is a rip-off, and they never mentioned any room problem. The night staff were incredibly rude and acted as if this bait-and-switch was normal. I suspect they gave the room to someone else who paid more on the spot. They said it would be ready in the morning, then came up with the same senseless excuses. I wasted half a vacation day searching for another hotel and took a refund for the remaining days before leaving. After stays in 19 countries, this was the worst experience of my life. I’ve had wonderful visits in Luxor, Aswan, and Sharm El Sheikh, so I know Egyptian hospitality can be great, but this wasn’t it. I found another hotel for half the price, closer to the Pyramids, with a fantastic owner. Save your time and money and don’t stay here.

Since it was late, the hotel is far from the city, and I was traveling with my daughter, I had no choice but to stay. The room had several problems: the shower had only been partly repaired and still didn’t work properly, and despite repeated complaints, the bathroom hand shower was never fixed. I’d prepaid for a pyramid-view room, but on December 28 I was told it wasn’t available. The owner promised through Expedia that I’d get the room I’d reserved the next day, but that didn’t happen and there was no explanation. The hotel failed to honor the confirmed reservation and didn’t maintain basic standards. Advertising a pyramid view and refusing to provide it is misleading. Avoid it if you don’t want stress, broken promises, and substandard conditions.
