The room wasn’t fit to live in, it was very dirty, and we couldn’t get anyone to clean it. Housekeeping at Family Star Makadi was really disappointing. The floor had visible dust, sand and stains, as the attached photo shows. It wasn’t a one-off problem: even after repeated complaints to reception, the room still wasn’t cleaned properly. The cleanliness fell well below an acceptable standard, and management didn’t deal with the issue, so it remained unresolved. Cleanliness is basic, especially at a family hotel. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless housekeeping and management improve significantly.

The best hotel resort I’ve been to, and I highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit. Don’t miss African Bar, it’s a must! The staff are all kind and friendly, especially Mohammed Ali.

The accommodation is older, and some of the maintenance is lacking. The price usually reflects that. The people are nice, though there’s the usual Egyptian upselling for the spa, trips and other things. Saying no is accepted. A nice holiday for people who aren’t too demanding.

I stayed here, but I’m reviewing it as Sunwing Waterworld because the hotel doesn’t really operate separately. You check in at Sunwing Waterworld, and everything else is handled through Sunwing Waterworld. See my review there.

Great for families. It’s all inclusive, so you can eat and drink throughout the day and evening, and there’s lots of fun for kids.
