Mövenpick Resort & Spa El Gouna

I loved how relaxing the atmosphere was, and the lagoon and beach views were amazing. The resort is beautiful, peaceful and very well cared for, with thoughtful details throughout. Our room was comfortable and clean, and there was plenty of excellent food to choose from. Everyone on staff was welcoming, professional and quick to help with a smile. It’s a great place to relax or keep busy. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting El Gouna and would love to return.

Sarah from the animation team was so kind and helpful throughout our stay, and her positive energy made everything more enjoyable. The activities were fun and well organized, too. The whole team helped make the visit memorable. The hotel is beautiful and well maintained, with excellent service, and the staff were friendly, professional and always willing to help. The hotel itself is pleasant and the staff are generally welcoming, but the spa pricing left me feeling misled. I’m six months pregnant and booked a 90-minute prenatal massage for €100. That already seemed expensive for Egypt, but I felt I needed the treatment. Before it began, the spa manager examined my back and said I had a lot of tension and would benefit from extending it to 150 minutes. I’d been told 50 minutes cost €80 and 90 minutes cost €100, so I assumed 150 minutes might be around €150-200 at most. Nobody clearly told me the actual total would be €314. At the end, I was presented with that bill and asked to pay straight away. I felt pressured into an upgrade without being given clear pricing beforehand. I live in Paris and have been to many luxury spas. I wouldn’t normally expect to pay that much even at a high-end place. This was a pregnancy massage with gentle pressure and limited products, so the price felt completely out of proportion. My complaint isn’t about the therapist or the massage itself. Guests should be told the full cost before agreeing to extra treatment. If you use the spa, I’d confirm prices in writing before accepting an upgrade or anything additional.

The rooms could use some general upkeep. Our beds and linen were clean and comfortable, but we noticed broken tiles and worn fixtures. A little attention there would bring them up to the resort’s otherwise high standard. The property itself is beautiful, with lush grounds, immaculate pools and the lovely Red Sea light that turns golden in the late afternoon. I never got tired of walking around. The staff are warm and attentive, and made us feel at home. Khaled at the Italian restaurant deserves a mention for his friendly, attentive service and knowledge of the menu. That personal touch made the meal memorable. It’s a beautiful resort with a lot of heart, and a very welcoming place to stay in El Gouna.
