We spent a couple of days in this peaceful place, and every part of the stay felt lovely. Mamhoud helped us enjoy the hotel, the food and accommodation, and even showed us how to see the huge ships on the Suez canal from the public viewing point at "Nemera Seta". His good humour and conversation made it especially memorable. After the lively bustle of Egypt’s bigger cities, this felt like an oasis and a quiet haven on our trip through North Egypt from Cairo, to Giza, Port Said and Ismalia. The staff and the whole place were wonderful, with a special thank you to Mustafa, (David) from David and David! I hope to come back with my wife. I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to experience Ismalia’s friendly, authentic feel from a truly luxurious base.

The hotel gives you an introductory tour when you arrive, and there are artistic paintings throughout. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated, and we slept very well thanks to the soft, comfortable mattress and pillows. The staff were helpful and decent. There were flies in the dining room, though, and the entrance smelled of food.

The staff made the stay feel special, welcoming us warmly and paying attention to all the details. The hotel keeps its historical character so well, from the architecture through to the décor, while still providing modern comforts. It felt like stepping into the past without giving anything up in convenience. A lovely mix of history, charm, and heartfelt service. I’d highly recommend it for a memorable stay.

The location isn’t great, and parking takes some figuring out since you have to leave the car on the street. Still, it’s a luxurious, well-kept hotel with plenty of history, antique-style furniture that hides modern technology, and excellent service. The restaurant is great too. It seems well suited to a romantic getaway for a couple, though I wouldn’t recommend it for children.

The pool was clean and pleasant for relaxing, though there was no lifeguard on duty and it shuts at 8 PM, so plan your swim around that. We also found the Suez Canal Museum right next door, which is a must-see if you’re exploring the area. The restaurant is small, with just six tables, but the food was excellent. We tried fish and pasta, while others in our group had burgers and more pasta. Breakfast was fantastic too, with American or Oriental options, and we were glad it could be brought to our room. Our room was in the extension building, where the engineers used to stay. It was very spacious, had a large closet, and a clean, well-equipped bathroom. The hotel is split between that building and the main house, once the home of Ferdinand de Lesseps. The care taken with cleanliness was obvious everywhere. From the moment we arrived at Maison Maxim De Lesseps in Ismaelia, the place felt like a beautifully preserved step into another era. The service was just as memorable. Reception manager Mr. Mohammed Ismail was welcoming and helpful, and everyone else, from the gate guard and bellboy to housekeeping and restaurant staff, was genuinely friendly and made us feel at home. Maison Maxim De Lesseps brings history and comfort together for a distinctive stay. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ismaelia.
