We only stayed briefly, but came away with a warm impression of the Nubian people in town. This is a quiet, simple place in a kind, gentle town, and we'd recommend it for that sort of stay. We didn't meet the owner, Mohammed, until we were leaving, but even our short conversation reflected the friendliness and hospitality we had already seen from his staff. Ali Salah and Hamo Shally were polite, friendly, and extremely helpful, with no strings attached. They took us to Abu Simbel Temple in their tuktuk and picked us up whenever we wanted. Arranging pickup over WhatsApp was easy. The room and sheets were clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom worked well. There's also a phone, and they called soon after check-in to ask if we needed anything. A few more hangers and a mirror outside the bathroom would be useful. Breakfast was simple and enjoyable. We especially liked the omelette in a cast iron pot, which kept the egg hot and warmed our bread. One nice extra of staying overnight is that the tour buses are gone by the afternoon, so you can have the temples to yourself. The new establishment may not be rated as a five-star hotel, but it deserves five stars in a review. It's quaint and cozy, and very service oriented.
