So peaceful, which is hard to find, and the stay was fantastic. The rooms have high domed ceilings and antiques, and the whole hotel is beautifully put together. They even carved designs into the skirting boards. Marina, the owner, and the staff were welcoming and helpful, and their advice helped us plan our time in Luxor. Some of our favorite sites were ones Marina told us about. We'd highly recommend it.

The free boat shuttle to the west bank is a real plus, and the historic sites, including the Valley of the Kings, are nearby. Local ride services cost much less than private taxis. But Djorff Palace is far from the city center, isolated and difficult to find. Getting there felt like a trek through reeds and local housing. The grounds and hotel look luxurious, with a lot of money clearly spent, but the stay itself was uncomfortable. Check-in took well over ten minutes and felt odd. The owner greeted us but waited quite a while to introduce herself. Our room was just around the corner, but its lights didn't work. The room was otherwise fine, nothing special. The atmosphere felt eerie, with few other guests around. The local staff were attentive, though they seemed trained to follow English customs so closely it came across as fake and pretentious. The food was the biggest letdown. Meals were oily and unappealing, and breakfast was poorly set up near the water with insects around. There were ants in the muesli. The menu changed each day, but the quality didn't get any better. We used the shuttle to eat at the Steigenberger across the Nile, which was unbelievable by comparison. Djorff Palace means well and looks lovely, but the experience is poorly executed. I'd strongly recommend the Steigenberger or another established hotel across the river instead. Rating: 3/10.

We felt at home straight away thanks to the warm welcome from the owner and staff. Djorff Palace is beautifully designed, with spacious rooms, many looking over the Nile from their balconies. We had a lovely stay on Luxor's peaceful West Bank and would come back if we visit Egypt again.

The river view, unusual style, lovely pool, restaurant, decent food, good service, and dependable shuttle across to the Steigenberger are all real strengths. Still, staying here felt like a fever dream, and a few basic fixes could make it much better. The Lapis room had an especially narrow, hard bed. Water pressure was barely a drip, and because our room looked onto the smoking lobby, the smell came in whenever someone had a cigarette. Worst of all, the hotel is dry. Fix the beds and plumbing, stop smoking in the lobby, and stock some Stellas, for the love of God. Then it could be brilliant. For now, stay elsewhere. Your back will thank you.

After a day of sightseeing, this beautiful property felt like an oasis. The owner and staff were wonderful, with great advice for planning the day. We booked a balloon ride through them and highly recommend doing that. The unique place and incredible views made for an amazing experience. I'd recommend it to anyone.
