Sofitel Winter Palace Luxor & Pavillon Winter Luxo

The shared Winter Palace garden and pool are the big draw. The garden is stunning and lovely for relaxing, and the location is excellent, within walking distance of several restaurants and Luxor Temple, and not far from Karnak Temple. We also appreciated the staff offering us a free late checkout. The rooms feel dated and need renovation, and the staff were adequate but not especially warm or friendly. Breakfast is a mediocre buffet, overpriced at about $15 USD per person. The best part of it is eating outside in that beautiful garden. I wouldn't rate this five stars, three at best.

The place feels old, and the floors weren't properly clean. The faucet leaked for all 3 days we were there. We reported it, but nobody fixed it or offered us another room, so the bathroom floor stayed wet the whole time and became really uncomfortable. The pool closes at 19h, and you can't even sit there afterward to read a book. Breakfast was a joke, like a roadside motel breakfast. I was very disappointed. I had high expectations based on the feedback about this hotel. :-(

The gardens and location were fabulous. The WiFi was poor, just 1-2 Mbps, and the room with the bath had very dated furniture and TV. Everything felt like it was from the 70s and badly needed a refresh. Breakfast was meh too, with 80% of the hot dishes highly processed.

The gardens are beautiful and make the hotel feel very peaceful, and the balcony is a lovely place to take in the view. The room was a bit noisy, probably because of a connecting door, and felt somewhat dated. Breakfast was nice but not quite five-star quality. The shower is cramped and has a plastic curtain.
