Red Sea Hotel

The place has a construction site in the front garden and piles of rubbish at the back. When we arrived, staff would not let us stay in one room or split us between two rooms, then refused to refund us or even give us a note confirming we had not stayed. They were unhelpful and unfriendly, and hardly spoke English. I found them dishonest and untrustworthy. Don't stay here.

The room was decent, with good furniture, fresh towels, and very good new air conditioning. Drinks and water were also priced well. The bathroom needs renovation, though, and there was no breakfast. Reception was basic, and neither the restaurant nor the diving center was operating. The Red Sea Hotel is right in central Marsa Alam, close to a gas station and everyday amenities like supermarkets, restaurants, shops, a pharmacy, and a bakery. It occupies two connected buildings, with rooms on floors one through three.

The hotel is about 2 km from the city center, an easy 20-minute walk with lots of restaurants and shops. There's a supermarket at the nearby gas station, but prices there are higher for foreigners, so I only used it in an emergency. In the center, I found a larger store where everything had barcodes and cost the same for Egyptians and foreigners, and you can pay by card. The room was simple but fairly clean, with clean beds and sheets, working AC, and a fridge. The bathroom was okay, though it needs maintenance. The tap water looked a little yellow, maybe because of old pipes or tanks, so I used bottled water to brush my teeth. The shower worked, but the booth looked dated. The sink and toilet seat were clean and seemed new, from familiar brands. For a cheap stay in Marsa Alam, I thought the condition was fine and would recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were cleaner than average, breakfast was okay but nothing special, and the price was very reasonable for what you get. I'd recommend staying here.
