Carols Beau Rivage Hotel

The sea is lovely when the waves stay calm and there’s no seaweed. When it washes in, though, nobody clears it, and it can sit there for four to five days. There was seaweed most of the time we were there, so the nice water didn't make up for the rest. This hotel seems to be staying afloat mainly because of Czech clients, and it was full of them. Some Czech guests also brought large cups to pour alcoholic drinks and beer into, and I was often ashamed of our nation and our behavior. The hotel calls itself five-star, but by world standards I’d put it around 3.5. The hardworking staff do their best to keep the grounds neat and clean, which must take a lot of effort in a place that has seen better years. The air conditioning throughout is old and noisy, and it kept waking me at night. The Wi-Fi is a complete disaster: it’s missing across the property and only offered in one cafe, which is smoky and stinks even when nobody is there. Since the hotel shop mainly sells SIM cards, I get the impression management intends to avoid providing good Wi-Fi and make money on SIM sales. I wouldn't return. There are much nicer places in Egypt with better service.

The beach was shockingly dirty despite being advertised as private, and the restaurant food was very plain and extremely mediocre. Service felt like a 3-star hotel at best, and in my experience only foreigners are treated well. This place is very overrated. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

We had a lovely stay in june. The rooms are so spacious you could do yoga in them, the white sand beach is amazing, and we never had trouble finding a comfy sun lounger. The sea is wonderful, though access is limited, so you can't swim very far. It feels more like a bigger swimming pool, and we still didn't want to get out. Most staff across the beach, animation, housekeeping, bars, and restaurants went above and beyond. The beach bar was the exception. We felt like a bother there even with simple orders and tips, so after two days we stopped going and got drinks from the pool bar while at the beach, then used the other bar in front of the hotel in the evenings. Such a pity, since the beach bar's location would otherwise be perfect. You don't want to feel unwelcome on holiday. The food selection wasn't the best, but everything was flavoured perfectly, so we never left the restaurant hungry. The staff's attention and service were immaculate and made my days. I’d also definitely recommend a massage. The seaside setting and the masseuse were a highlight of the stay. Special praise to Donja, sorry if I spelled it wrong. I went twice and enjoyed every moment. The beer itself was lovely, but it was often warm. I wish they'd serve it from a tap instead of pouring leftovers from three bottles, especially when most of the clientele is a beer nation. Overall, I had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

I really enjoyed my vacation at this beautiful hotel. The view is breathtaking, and the team is decent, helpful, and offers wonderful service. The food, spa, and professional massage were all amazing. I highly recommend it.
