New Ledo Hotel Marsa Matruh

The laid-back atmosphere makes this a lovely spot to unwind by the water, with the shoreline just steps away and beautiful sea views. The rooms were roomy and clean, and many had balconies facing the sea. Staff were friendly, although service slowed down at busy times. The restaurant served fresh seafood and local dishes, which added to the seaside feel. The decor could use updating, but the stay was still enjoyable.

I’ve stayed here three times. The staff were polite and apologized, but the room service team seemed inexperienced. Once I had to ask for towels because there were none in the toilet, and they took an hour and a half to bring them. Another time, staff knocked on all the doors, including those of guests who were checking out, to ask about lunch.

There’s no food service, so you need to sort out your own meals, but the rooftop room was incredible. It was spotless, with an amazing sea view and a big terrace where we could eat. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking, including an electric oven, dishwasher, small bar, and fridge.

This was my second visit to Matrouh. My first was at belle veu hotel, and I found this hotel a good, less expensive alternative, though it doesn’t have a private beach. I enjoyed the stay more than I expected. The rooms were clean, the staff were very nice, and service was clean with pleasant waiters. The food was delicious, but there wasn’t much variety. At the open buffet, the chef served the meat or chicken in very small portions unless you asked for more, which I hadn’t seen at another hotel. A swimming pool would make the place perfect.
