Jaz Samaya Resort

We felt safe, relaxed, and welcome every day at Lamaya Resort. Traveling as a US citizen with family in difficult times globally, that meant a lot. The resort became a second home to us, and we'll definitely return. The restaurant staff, beach bar, pool bar, and lobby bar teams were warm, respectful, and hardworking, always greeting guests with a smile. Mr. Ibrahim, the Restaurant Manager, was among the kindest and most professional people we met. He showed our one-and-a-half-year-old child genuine care and affection, almost as if the child were his own. As parents traveling with a toddler, that made the holiday much easier and more relaxing. Our room was spacious, comfortable, clean, and much better than we expected from the original booking. The kitchen team also deserves thanks. Executive Chef Mr. Hosny, Chef Mr. Antier, and Chef Mr. Hassan were professional, talented, and clearly cared about quality. Meals were fresh, delicious, healthy, and varied, with some dishes that felt like restaurant-quality fine dining. The Alfredo pasta was outstanding. The reception team also made a strong impression. Mr. Mohamed Harb, the Reception Manager, was professional, kind, and very helpful. Mr. Nader, the Reservation Manager, went above and beyond to make things right for us. Keroless and Elsam at reception were patient, friendly, always smiling, and ready to help. All the staff made us feel respected and at home, and the hospitality felt like a real culture across the resort. Thanks to everyone at Lamaya Resort and Jaz Group for such a lovely family stay.

The food was a real pleasure during our stay at JAZ Lamaya in Marsa Alam in the last week of May. My wife, children, and I always found something interesting to eat, and it tasted great. The quality and variety were excellent. Overall, the week was pleasant. There were a few things I wasn't happy with. The motorized lawn mowers were noisy, and the resort grass seemed to be cut quite often. The animation schedule was posted, but activities rarely happened as listed, apart from the Super Mario program. That was disappointing for the children, who were looking forward to things like water polo. They got to play it only twice during our stay. The rooms could also use some maintenance, especially the bathrooms.

We were pleased with the entertainment, which had plenty of different options, and the coral reef is beautiful. We also got to observe sea turtles. The hotel shows its age, but it's maintained well. The one inconvenience was the pool towel setup: there's no towel center by the pool, so changing towels during the day isn't easy. The main restaurant was a strong point, with delicious, varied, well-prepared food and excellent service. Restaurant manager and chef Mohamed Hassan does a great job, and it shows in both the dishes and how the team is organized. Cleanliness was high, too. Compared with Pickalbatros hotels where I've stayed many times, Jaz Lamaya came out well. Before arrival, I emailed several requests about my stay, and the hotel honored them all. That made a very good first impression and felt professional even before check-in. Special thanks to Mustafa Nasser for helping and organizing everything efficiently.

The downsides were mostly outside the hotel. Getting around was difficult because you can't arrange a taxi on your own and have to rely on the hotel's significantly overpriced taxi service. The local shopkeepers and pharmacy in and around the resort were another issue. The constant sense that people were trying to rip us off took away a little from the experience. The hotel itself was absolutely top notch. The food, spotless rooms, and beautifully maintained grounds were all excellent, as were the service, sea, and staff. We had originally planned to go to the Emirates, but because of the current situation we ended up at Jaz Lamaya in Egypt and had an incredible time. We hardly ever revisit the same place, but I'd like to return to Jaz Lamaya and the Coraya area at least once more. If you stick to the resort's hospitality, you'll have a perfect holiday.
