Masoudi Lodge

The welcome and care were superb, and the place feels very safe for a solo traveler. Masudi Lodge is away from the noise and bustle of the St. Catherine city main road and downtown, but still within walking distance of the ATM, supermarkets, hardware store, Vodafone branch, and the only reasonable dinner spot, Ziko's panorama. For a summer stay in the high desert of the South Sinai, I especially valued the powerful, quiet a/c and the hot shower with strong water pressure. Both were high quality. The lodge was very clean and comfortable, with good mattresses, bedding, and towels. Breakfast was thoughtfully prepared around my dietary limits, with fresh fruit and vegetables, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, feta cheese, and coffee with milk that could be refilled.

It was my first time in St Cathetine, and I felt blessed to stay at Masoudi Lodge. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfy, and the owners and staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was tasty, with lots of variety to suit different requirements. It’s about 5-7 minutes from downtown, with breathtaking mountain views. Thank you so much for an unforgettable stay.

A nice surprise, and a bit more comfortable than Fox Camp, though also a bit more expensive. I would have given it five stars, but they first charged us for five nights when we’d stayed four. They also offered to drive us the 1 km to the monastery entrance, then charged 40 EGP.

Sheikh ahmed, who runs the place, arranged the trip and handled all the tour details. I spent one night here during a three-day mountain trip, and it was a perfect starting point for a hike. There were showers and a bathroom, plus clean private rooms with electricity and wifi.
